About Me

Philippa Hamson MC, CCC, RP
Founder & Clinical Director
Registered Psychotherapist

I am a seasoned therapist with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. I completed my undergraduate degree from York University and pursued my passion further by earning my master's degree from the University of Lethbridge. I became a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling Association in 2010 and I have been a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario since 2015, ensuring the highest standards of care for my clients. YRPCS was established in 2010 and has been proudly serving Keswick and surrounding areas since.

My expertise covers a range of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, passivity, relationship ambivalence, trauma, and anger management. I am also skilled in counseling couples with regards to healthy communication, affair recovery, and enhancing emotional and physical intimacy.

As your counsellor, I am committed to helping you achieve meaningful change using a gentle yet direct approach. My skills lie in providing unconditional acceptance, empathic understanding, and asking thought-provoking questions that bring new perspective to your experience and highlight neglected or forgotten dreams, hopes, and values. My counselling philosophy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy yet I integrate various therapeutic approaches to assist you in achieving the goal(s) that prompted you to seek counselling. Avery McDonald MACP, RP
Registered Psychotherapist

I’m Avery - I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and I work with individuals aged 12 and older who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, relational conflict, life transitions, addiction, stress, and burnout.

In our sessions, I aim to create a supportive space where you can pause from the pressures of daily life and focus on yourself. Together, we’ll look at the patterns that shape your experiences—how they began, how they show up now, and how you’d like things to be different. My approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, and I see therapy as walking alongside you while you navigate life’s challenges.

I integrate evidence-based practices, weaving together practical skills such as distress tolerance with deeper therapeutic work that supports lasting growth. This balance allows us to build both the tools you need for daily regulation and the insight needed to foster long-term change. I see therapy as a process of evolving and reconnecting with your true self. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, supported, and equipped with a stronger sense of clarity and resilience.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Seneca Polytechnic. Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time at my family cottage in the Algonquin Highlands.
